I had thought about asking someone to write this for me as it's less about me and more about what happens in our box (gym) but I've been told it would make good reading (though I'm still not convinced) so here it is - in the third person.

Mike is passionate about helping people help themselves. Like a trusty guide dog, Mike makes sure people have a path to follow, steering them right when they want to go left and only barking on the odd occasion.

CrossFit CW was set up just for this purpose. A place where like-minded people can get together, do work and sweat. Mike is merely the hired help. It’s the members that do all the work.

For me CrossFit is more than just fitness. Its courage, community and friendships. Gettin ripped and healthy is just a bi-product.

This is here to stay ....

I’m a full time Mum, Wife, CrossFit Level 1 Coach and Certified Personal Trainer. I have been a Fitness Coach for over five years and specialise in Women’s Training.

I started my career as a Group Fitness Instructor with Les Mills, moved into teaching both small groups and one on one PT, and finally found CrossFit during my pregnancy in 2009.

I joined the CrossFit CW team in 2010 and have been training there since. For me CrossFit is a way of life.

I love being fit, strong and healthy.

As a qualified and practicing physiotherapist who has recently achieved CrossFit level one certification, my passion and interests lie in bio mechanics and human movement.

I began CrossFit in mid 2010 and have been training religiously ever since. I was drawn by the challenge and I stay for the community. I am honored to be a part of MyCrossFit and strive to put in as much time and effort as those who turn up and bust their asses every day.

With my qualifications, I am always available to provide information on injuries, flexibility issues and general health concerns with members.

Or in other words ... I'm useful ;)

I started CrossFit in 2011 as a bit of cross-training for rowing and I haven't looked back. Since then I have given up on the rowing, began as an internship in August 2011 and have since completed my Level 1 certification.

I love that CrossFit is for anyone, from elite athletes to those just starting out with fitness, everyone is always welcome and there are always gains to be made. I especially enjoy helping people to get fitter and stronger (and healthier!!) and to do things that they never thought were possible.

I’m a girl that likes to lift heavy s@$t and I enjoy helping others do it too (with good technique of course!)

Growing up I tried everything; swimming, netball, tennis, golf, rowing, while I had a blast none of these sports gave me the same buzz that CrossFit does.

CrossFit has become a lifestyle for me and CrossFit Central Wellington is an amazing community that I am honoured to be a part of.

I became an intern at CrossFit Central Wellington in September 2011 and have since completed my level 1 qualification in April of 2012.

CrossFit is a programme that’s offers scalability to any fitness level and challenges even the fittest of the fit so don’t get comfortable get CrossFit!

Like many I find myself sitting behind a desk for a living; but to feel alive, I CrossFit.

Growing up in rural areas of the USA I have always been active. Whether out mountain biking, kayaking, snowshoeing, practicing martial arts or even just monkeying around on the jungle-gym I enjoy things that physically (and mentally) challenge me.

I was first introduced to CrossFit as a wild-land firefighter, where my colleagues spoke of a training program that was incredibly intense and used by police, firefighters, and military professionals because of the high level of functional fitness it delivered. After trying some of the WODs I was convinced that this was the training philosophy that would really work for me.

I trained on my own during University and then moved to New Zealand in late 2010. I wasn't sure of the value of joining a gym because I hadn't needed to before - little did I know that the community of CrossFit Central Wellington would turn out to be like an extended family.

Nothing beats hitting a WOD with friends.

"No Rep!!"

That is the moment I realised I wanted to be a part of this community. A community with standards.

Being a competitive person from a rugby background I was looking for something that gave me that little bit extra. I stumbled onto CrossFit and over the last year I have been fully immersed in the wealth of fitness knowledge and the ever growing success that is CrossFit.

Being part of CrossFitCentralWellington has been massive for me personally. To be part of this community and to be invited into the journeys of other people is incredibly humbling and special. Everyday I see people grow both physically and mentally and it uplifts me in my efforts.

With all that said I am going to get my Level 1 Certificate this April 2012. Then I will be on you like white on rice, a glass of milk and a paper plate in a snow storm, so don't give me the satisfaction of yelling out "NO REP!!"

*(soon to be) CrossFit Kids Certified Trainer

It was at the age of 3 that I was first put into a gym. My parents were already sick of me jumping on the beds and hanging upside down on the sofa. For nearly 20 years, the sport of gymnastics was my entire life; training 3-7 hours per day and competing at the highest level throughout North America. Growing up as a competitive gymnast made me the person I am today and gave me the passion for training hard to reach your goals and full potential.

I obtained a degree in international business management at The Pennsylvania State University. Since retiring from gymnastics upon college graduation, I have struggled to find an activity that gave me the same level of workout or satisfaction that gymnastics did until I came across Crossfit in early 2011. I was instantaneously hooked and I have been striving to learn and improve ever since. I love the variety and excitement of Crossfit. Of course, I also love that it is okay to walk around on your hands in the gym!

I completed my Level 1 Crossfit certification in April and will be getting my Crossfit Kids Certification this July. After 5 years of traveling while working on boats & visiting many different crossfit boxes across the world, I am excited to soon call Crossfit Central Wellington my home. Using my previous gymnastics coaching experience, I will be sharing my love of crossfit by teaching the children of Wellington about our healthy lifestyle with our new Crossfit Kids program coming soon.

Coming over from Canada three years ago I was a bit lost with my ice hockey and American football to play. I did the gym thing and tried other sports but nothing quite cut it.! I started doing WOD's with friends at my gym and the intensity hooked me.... but it wasn't a sport .... but it was! I heard about the open and talked to Mike and I was in. I had something to push for again. What I didn't realize was how amazing the people and the environment would be.

It's easy to be skeptical about being part of a box when you can do this sort of work out on your own, but it makes something that hurts so much, fun! Given my physio background I have a real interest in helping those around me get stronger in a safer and more efficient way. Recently I was lucky enough to be brought on board at the box because of this interest, so although I'm new, if you have any questions fire away!
